Top Orthopaedic Adult Reconstruction Fellowship Programs

 

 

We know it can be daunting when applying for fellowship and trying to gather more information on different programs. So we created a list of some different fellowship programs from our survey! If you don’t see your program on here and are a fellow/ faculty, you can fill out the short survey to represent your program. Below contains information from current and former fellows on case volume, mentorship and strengths and weaknesses of their programs.

Below, you can find info filled out on particular orthopedic pediatric fellowship programs in the United States!

 

United States Orthopaedic Recon Programs:

 

Program: New England Baptist

 

Location: Boston, Massachusetts

 

Anticipated yearly case volume: 500-800

 

Faculty members (“Big names”) you get to work with: David Mattingly, James Bono

 

Rotations/Call Set up: 2 month blocks between 3 teams, 2 full rotations

Call was weekend pager call. Rotated. Unpaid. Moonlighting available to cover inpatient call.

 

Research Requirement: In fellowship; 1 hoped for but not enforced.

Strengths of program?: “High volume. I did 719 joints in the year”

 

Weaknesses of program?: “Never got to go skin to skin Solo.”

 

Other advice: “Great staff, high volume, see a bit of everything. I felt very prepared when I came out.”

 

 

 

Program: Anderson Clinic

 

Location: Alexandria, Virginia

 

Anticipated yearly case volume: 450+

 

Faculty members (“Big names”) you get to work with: Andy Engh, Bill Hamilton, Kevin Fricka

 

Rotations/Call Set up: 3 month blocks

Unpaid joint replacement call. No ED coverage.

 

Research Requirement: No requirements.

Strengths of program?: “Breadth of operative exposure, DAA hips, UKA, academic program, mentorship”

 

Weaknesses of program?: “Slightly lower revision volume, but definitely felt comfortable doing big revision cases when I graduated.”

 

Other advice: “Would definitely go there if given the opportunity again!”
