William N. Levine, MD is a nationally and internationally recognized specialist in sports medicine, arthroscopic and open shoulder, elbow, and knee surgery. He is chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, where he holds the Frank E. Stinchfield Professorship of Orthopedic Surgery and serves as chief of the New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center Orthopedics Service. Dr. Levine completed his first residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and his second residency at Tufts Medical Center. He also finished his first fellowship for Shoulder Surgery at NY-Presby/Columbia University Medical Center and his second fellowship for Sports Medicine at University MD Medical Center.

Dr. Levine was on the Executive Committee of the American Orthopedic Association, the world’s first orthopedic association and the body responsible for the development of orthopedics  as a discipline from general surgery. He was also a member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery’s Board of Directors, which governs orthopedic surgeon licensure and training. Moreover, he was awarded the prestigious American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Traveling Fellowship. Dr. Levine also contributed significantly to science by publishing over 150 peer-reviewed articles, wrote over 50 book chapters, edited 11 textbooks, and gave over 200 scientific presentations in the United States and abroad.
